The Go-To

Style tips: layer up with a crisp button-down, add a playful shoe, tie a scarf on it, go minimal in one color palette or add texture…

Mash Up: Preppy & Leather

Jeans: c/o James Jeans, Sweater: J. Crew (love this too), Top: H&M (similar), Jacket: MaxStudio via Marshalls
Loafers: Cole Haan (similar), Bag: Kate Spade, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets: vintage

Wore this ‘would be preppy if I didn’t add a leather moto-jacket’ ensemble to brunch this weekend with the manfriend, who reluctantly happily snapped these pics. The storm was starting to brew up, so jeans and loafers were a must. I love the pop of snake-print under the sweater and the somewhat unexpected pairing of the leather jacket. Oh, and how adorable is my new bag?? I’m currently stuck without power, so probably won’t be posting much…Good luck to all who were affected by the storm!

I’m a Professional… Sort of

When I left for work, the manfriend commented “You look so professional.” It could have just been his sleepy stupor talking, because had I been wearing pajamas and fuzzy slippers, he may have said the same thing. I kid. Anyway, this outfit started out great, but then wrinkles kicked in and this is what I ended up with by the end of the day… The old sloppy professional look (Sorry, Mommy).

Oxford: Izod via Marshalls (similar), Pants: Cynthia Steffe (old), Shoes: Franco Sarto (so old – I like these and these too), Watch: Michael Kors, Jewelry: mostly vintage

Happy Friday, everyone! Have a great weekend.

Currently Craving: Sunshine, Daisies, Butter Mellow…

I’ve been crushing on the color yellow recently… I literally own nothing yellow excluding perhaps a pair of sandals. It isn’t a terribly flattering color on me, unless I have a sweet tan. (Which I’ve recently lost since starting my “big girl” life). But there are so many different shades that at least one is bound to work for everybody, so here are some of my favorite picks:

Derek Lam maxi skirt, bold yellow nail polish, Emilio de la Morena silk shirtdress, French Connection shorts, Bauble Bar necklace, Rebecca Minkoff top

P.S. if you don’t know where the title came from, get with it… If you do, nerds unite!

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold Brogues

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold oxford flats

I’ve been lusting over metallic brogues recently. The dressed up flat is a great option for those who prefer to leave the heels at home. There are about a million ways to wear these metallic gold oxfords, but here are three of my favorites! The first look would make for a cute and casual date night outfit. Silk floral shorts are the modern version of a skirt. Pair them with a blouse and a leather jacket and you are ready for dinner and a movie! For the second look, the gold brogues are a fun accent piece to a basic jeans and sweater ensemble. Wear this on a shopping trip or for lunch with friends. The last look combines a modern shirtdress with the trendy flats. Add a cool, studded belt for shape, and you are ready to hit happy hour. What do you say? Are gold brogues for you?

New Shoes, Two Ways

Wearing – Sweater: J. Crew (old), Boyfriend shorts: H&M (old), Shoes: Steve Madden (similar), Jeans: J. Crew, Striped Sweater: J. Crew (similar), Glasses: Tiffany & Co.

I managed to get outside to take photographs… or so I thought. I only took about three shots before it started to rain again. Anyway, I’ve been obsessed with these new loafers, courtesy of Steve Madden (similar), so here are a couple of ways that I have worn them recently. They are not drastically different looks: I varied the basic formula of jeans, stripes, and a comfy sweater. What better way to dress on rainy days?

The Very Unfortunate Real World

Goodbye college, hello real world. Most graduates are looking forward to the day when they take another step on the path of life. They look to it with hope and a sense of adventure. I, on the other hand, left kicking and screaming yesterday afternoon from the University I have called home for the past four years. Anyway, I will be back on track soon but in the meantime here are some highlights from the past week that I spent hurrahing with my friends and family!
