Gloves and mittens are a tricky accessory – I used to maintain the belief that they were merely a hindrance, a superfluous addition that served virtually the same purpose as pockets (which I am able to insert and remove my hand from with ease when I need to). On the other hand (har har), I feel I am missing a shopping, er fashion, opportunity… Well, that and how amazing are leather gloves for clapping at a hockey game? Thus, here is a round-up of some mittens and gloves that I am just dying to get my hands on in…
I hate tights. First of all, with a name like ‘tights,’ how comfortable can they be? Second, they inevitably rip so you have to constantly buy new pairs. And don’t even get me started on how tangled I get every time I have to go to the ladies room. What I’m trying to say is, tights are a worst case scenario for me. Therefore, if I go out for drinks during the cooler months, I tend toward pants so that I can avoid any pantyhose debacles.
Believe it or not, faux leather pants can be surprisingly versatile. I pair them with anything silky and/or sheer with a boyfriend blazer and bold jewelry (like this statement necklace) for a night out. Then for day, I would throw a comfy sweater over this outfit and swap my heels for leopard print loafers. What do you think? Do you wear your leather pants to death or are they still hanging in your closet with the tags on?
One of the challengeswomen face in the corporate world is how to take their daytime office look in to the evening, without packing a completely new outfit. I’d love to take on this challenge and start a series of how-tos, taking one piece and translating it from office to evening. I’ve started with this gorgeousPrabal Gurung lace pencil skirt. For day, I paired it with a clean, silk blouse and a matching blazer. Keep the accessories minimal: a stack of bracelets, funky specs, and a nude pump (with a little bling!). To change for cocktails, switch out the blouse for a soft tank. Add killerheels, cool jewelry, and amp up your makeup a little. What do you think? How would you wear this skirt for the day or night? Tell me in the comments!
These Miu Miu pumps are simply beautiful. They have a great vintage feel to them, while still looking modern with the faceted crystal embellishment. I would kill for these… so don’t cross me with these on your feet (especially if you are a size 6.5!) Just kidding…
A couple months ago, I entered a contest to win free shoes for a year from Steve Madden, and I won! (It’s no lottery, but hey I’m certainly not complaining!) These floral platforms are the first pair I chose – aren’t they adorable? I love how they are reminiscent of the Miu Miu Mary Janes from a few years ago.
What fabulous shoes would you pick from Steve Madden? Leave me your ideas in the comments!
