When in doubt, I always reach for a pair of straight leg or boyfriend jeans, an easy, oxford blouse, and a great pair of shoes. This foolproof ensemble always looks effortlessly chic, which is what every woman strives for, isn’t it?

I think one of the sexiest things a woman can wear is a suit – when I see a perfectly cut suit with an androgynous vibe and covered-up sex appeal… I die. I am particularly swooning over short-suits for Spring (a trend that is still in motion from last year), which can easily be dressed up or down (note street style with Converse below). Plus, I love the various colors, prints, and textures that make an updated, modern suit for women… Scroll through this post for a little suit-inspiration for Spring:

Just thought I’d give you a peek at a typical work outfit for me. My office is conservative, so in the winter I have stuck pretty close to a trousers and blouse formula. To keep my personality, I layer on some jewelry, add a fun belt, or swap in some trendy shoes. Sidenote: I love that the weather is starting to warm up in New York, because it means I can wear my many trench coats. To me, nothing is more classic and sophisticated than a great trench coat. I look for pieces with a special detail like the color-blocking in this version. What is your go-to Spring jacket?

Choosing top collections from the Fashion Week lineups is no easy task, so despite my best efforts I am sure there are designers and looks that I truly love that aren’t on the following list… Please tell me in the comments who your favorites were from NYFW. So without further ado….
3.1 Phillip Lim
This collection teaches us the true art of layering in the winter… An expert mix of colors and fabrics.
BCBG Max Azria
Love the rorschach-esque patterns, the fluid fabrics, and the leather legs.
Inspired by Russia… Siriano’s collection represents the luxe lady that I hope to someday be.
The makeup and the shoes are to die for… As always, Wu expertly blends feminine and dark elements.
Cool moss green combined to form unexpected color palettes… This collection looks effortlessly chic.
Marc by Marc Jacobs
This collection is reminiscent of the late 70s, with rich colors and the styling is absolutely perfect.
Graphic, sporty… This collection pushes the envelope, while remaining very wearable.
Perfect mix of hard and soft with a nod to military… beautifully done.
I’m a sucker for black and white everything, and it is done flawlessly here. Interesting cuts and fabrics, and can I please wear that white dress for my nonexistent wedding?
Love the fabrics and how well they are cut… Another perfect example of effortless chic.
More fashion week updates to come… Have a wonderful weekend!
Whatever the occasion, here are a few V-Day inspired outfits you can wear this week. Personally, I like subtlety on holidays… You won’t find me wearing jeans dotted with a heart print or a pullover with cupid plastered on the front (do they even make this?), so here are some understated ways to incorporate the love this week…
Office: Try going bold with red trousers and a ridiculously-cool tee. Adding a structured blazer pulls the look together. Luxurious touches like a gold cap-toe pump, a rich leather bag, and a menswear-inspired watch keep it classic and elegant.
Dinner Date: If you and your someone are going out to eat, opt for a classic black/white dress with just a slight nod to the heart symbol. Add statement earrings and a pop of red with your bag to make the look extra special.
Valentine’s Day Brunch: Whether you are hitting a cool brunch spot with your girlfriends or grabbing a bite with your man, a pretty lace pencil skirt gets a cool modern update when paired with a chambray and brogues. Add heart-shaped touches like diamond earrings and a patent pouch to stay on theme.
Staying In: If you are cooking dinner or lounging for V-day (because you are poor like my man and me), then all you need is just a pop of pink to spice up your usual basics. Add a stack of gold bracelets and trendy loafers to pull this classic look together.
What is your v-day plan and how will you dress for the occasion? Tell me in the comments!

I apologize for my absence! I’ve been super busy lately with some new projects, particularly styling for Keaton Row. I’ve noticed a trend recently among my clients… they all want classic pieces that they can style in different ways. And I couldn’t agree more! To me, the three most classic pieces worth investing in are a black blazer, a white button-down blouse, and dark denim jeans. Not only do these three items make a complete outfit that is classic and chic, they can be mixed up in infinite ways. Here are just three examples of how to wear your classics in a not-so-average way.
1. The Black Blazer: Layering with a black blazer is the easiest way to make an outfit look more structured, put-together, polished, however you want to say it… A bright-hued, flirty dress is balanced with a sleek black blazer and studded pumps.
2. The White Button-Down: A menswear-inspired piece, the white button-down naturally looks great with trousers or jeans, but I also like the wild-card pairing of something feminine and romantic. This look is a modern take on work-wear with a slim-patterned skirt and rich ankle-booties.
3. The Dark Denim Jean: A dark jean can easily be dressed up or down to fit your style. For a laid-back cool look, layer with a jumper and a scarf. Tasseled loafers and gold jewelry keep the look modern and sophisticated.

Santa was very good to me this year. Remember my Christmas wish-list post? Everything on my list was under the tree on Christmas day! I’m a very lucky lady… Here’s a peek at some of my goodies.
Lela Rose lace top, Calvin Klein coat, J. Crew trousers, Marc by Marc Jacobs blouse, Hartmann weekender bag, Banana Republic tweed blazer, and Maybelline mega plus mascara
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing holiday! And what is the favorite gift you received? Share with me in the comments!

As promised, here are the items on my Christmas list. I know, how boring am I? Mostly these are just practical things that I need… but hey, what do you expect from a poor recent-grad living in NYC? I need all the help I can get. It’s not glamorous, but I could use some shampoo, TP, and mascara too. I hope Santa reads fashion blogs…
