1 Piece, 3 Ways: Floral Pencil Skirt

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Floral Pencil Skirt
I love the unexpected mix of a bright floral print with a classic pencil skirt. This piece makes a statement, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear it all the time. Here are three unique ways to style such a bright skirt for weekend, work, and evening.
Look 1: Dress the skirt down with an easy striped T-shirt and sneakers. A denim jacket balances out the mix of patterns, and simple accessories won’t compete.
Graham & Spencer top, Madewell jacket, Keds sneakers, Forever 21 bracelets, Karen Walker sunnies
Look 2: A feminine peplum top adds sophistication, creating an office-appropriate look. Add chic pumps and a bold necklace in complementary hues for an extra touch of personality. A classic leather bag and trench in neutral colors keep the look polished.
DKNY top, Martin Grant trench coat, Charlotte Olympia pumps, Armani Exchange watch, Michael Kors bag, similar necklace
Look 3: This skirt packs a punch, so for evening accent it with black. A crop top (or full tank if you aren’t comfortable with putting your abs on display), sexy heels, and an accent bag are the perfect pieces to accompany such a playful skirt.
Nomia crop top (similar), Jimmy Choo sandals, Kelly Wearstler clutch, Bottega Veneta ring

Currently Craving: Metallics

Currently Craving: Metallics
The evolution of metallics from just a pocket watch or a bauble around a woman’s neck to ready-to-wear pieces (Celine, Burberry, Matthew Williamson, DVF) is a truly beautiful thing. Lately I have been particularly drawn to metallic footwear, in all shapes and styles with a gold, silver, rose gold, copper or bronze glimmer. Here is a round-up of some of my favorites right now… enjoy!
1. Rebecca Minkoff 2. Dolce Vita (under $100!) 3. Jimmy Choo 4. Rebecca Minkoff 5. Tory Burch 6. Kate Spade 7. Cole Haan (love citrus laces!) 8. Coach 9. Rag & Bone 10. BCBG ($50!) 11. Michael Kors

Trend Report: Pointed Toe Shoes

Trend: Pointed Toe Shoes
1. J. Crew 2. Jimmy Choo 3. Marc Jacobs 4. Valentino 5. Kate Spade 6. Alexander Wang 7. Valentino 8. DVF
I’ve always adored pointed-toe shoes for their super-feminine/kick your ass dichotomy… Let’s be honest a round or peep-toe style just won’t get the job done. These are some of my favorites for Fall. (Notice that one pair is much bigger and more central than the others… Yuppp, would kill for these Wangs.)

One Blouse for Work and Play

Work --> Play
For the second installment of the transition from office to evening challenge, I chose this amazing blouse by Etro. Go with the natural tones for daytime, by choosing a classic nude pencil skirt and pumps. Chic black studs and a roomy leather bag in a contrasting hue pull the look together. For cocktail hour, ditch the conservative skirt in favor of skinny, black leather pants (or jeans if having leather plastered to your thighs isn’t your thing… It isn’t for everyone). Roll up the sleeves of the blouse to reveal a sick metal cuff, and step in to a killer pair of black pumps. Add small jolts of color with a bright red clutch and lipstick (the hue of the season), and voila! You are ready for a night on the town… Where would you wear this blouse, and how would you style it?

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Floral Jeans

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Floral Jeans
My friend’s recent purchase of floral jeans and her subsequent inquiry on how to wear them inspired this post. Floral jeans are ubiquitous right now, so if you catch the craze here are 3 ways you can style yours! The first look is a twist on the denim-on-denim look. Pair a chambray shirt and a scarf with your floral jeans for an updated casual look. The second look is more appropriate for a night out. A sheer white blouse and amazing nude wedges pair perfectly with the printed jeans. Add a collar necklace and a studded clutch to toughen up the otherwise soft look. For the last look, I embraced the pastel trend with a soft pink sweater and pretty gold accents. Which look will you be trying? This pair of floral jeans is by Current/Elliot and can be purchased here.
