Hillary’s Holiday Wish List

Christmas Wish List
As promised, here are the items on my Christmas list. I know, how boring am I? Mostly these are just practical things that I need… but hey, what do you expect from a poor recent-grad living in NYC? I need all the help I can get. It’s not glamorous, but I could use some shampoo, TP, and mascara too. I hope Santa reads fashion blogs…
Items shown…
Weekender bags: Marc by Marc Jacobs and Brahmin, Coat: Calvin Klein, Planner: Graphic image (in green), Trousers: Thakoon Addition (love the dress with this print too) and Stella McCartney, Blazers: Ted Baker and Michelle Mason (in mint)

Currently Craving: Calvin Klein Metallic Sheath Dress

I’m not usually a “party-dress” kind of gal, but this one has me swooning. I love simple color palettes and silhouettes that I can change and update as my mood strikes, and this is the perfect blank canvas.  (That is probably a credit to the “get the most for your money” voice inside me). Anyway, love this Calvin Klein Collection number… Stay tuned for a post on different ways I would style it!

Currently Craving: Cocoon Coats

J. Crew, Jil Sander Fall 2012, 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2012, Lover, DKNY Fall 2012, Rebecca Taylor, Acne, and image c/o Stockholm Streetstyle
It’s officially cold in New York… And as unfortunate as this may be, it also means coats are making their way back into my closet. (Last year, I brought in an armoire to my petite dorm room simply to accommodate my coat collection.) I mean, lets face it, how bored would I get wearing the same coat every day when the temperatures drop? I think this is implied, but… so bored. Anyway, right now I am loving the cocoon coat because it looks effortlessly chic over anything! Oh this old coat? I just threw it on, and look fabulous. Oh, and speaking of old coats – if you live in the New York area, donate yours here!

Round Up: Best Merch to Save the Boobies

It would be remiss if I let October go by without posting about ta-tas. As an advocate of pink on the reg, (see blog title…), I can’t help but love all the pink support that comes out during Breast Cancer Awareness month. What can be better than shopping AND helping other people?? Here are some of my favorite products you can purchase this month that will support the fight again breast cancer:

Breast Cancer Awareness

Clockwise from Top Left: Donna Karan Cashmere Eau de Parfum, Keep Calm and Fight On, Essie BCA Collection Polish, COACH leather bag, Movado Special Edition BCA watch, Giuliana Rancic for LOFT necklace, ECHO scarf, and Dannijo BCA bracelet

If you have any favorite pink products or stories, please share them in the comments!

Currently Craving: Fisherman’s Sweaters and Skirts

I wore a fisherman sweater/skirt combo last week, and unfortunately, didn’t snap a pic. However, I’ve been thinking about my ensemble ever since (yes, I do pat myself on the back for an outfit well done)… And luckily, I just got 27 pounds of laundry done, so I can totally recreate it ASAP. Until then, here is some inspiration from some other lovely sources.

And… A fisherman sweater and skirt ensemble in none other than OXBLOOD, courtesy of Blair of Atlantic-Pacific:

One thing to note – if you take on this look, be sure to wear contrasting textures, like in the examples above. A leather, silk, or even lace skirt works best to balance out the chunky knit. Another tip – if you are afraid of losing your shape, add a belt, tuck the sweater into the front, or look for a high-low sweater hem (see example numero uno).

I took it to Polyvore for some more great ways to wear this look:

Michael Kors Fisherman Sweater, Girl by Band of Outsiders Skirt, Linea Pelle Crossbody bag, Seychelles Booties, Raoul Skirt, Maison Martin Margiela bangles, Jil Sander Brogues, Moschino Cheap & Chic Skirt, Alexander Wang Booties, Alexander McQueen Scarf.

What do you think – Have I convinced you this will be a go-to combo for Fall?

Wish List: Long Sleeve Dresses

My office is freezing. I mean knit hat, thick socks, fisherman sweater, thermal pants, and scarf kind of freezing. I don’t want to give up my dresses for work, so I have been hunting for long-sleeve guys (that I can then layer the aforementioned pieces over… I kid). Here are some of my favorites, almost none of which I can afford… Enjoy 🙂

Wish List: Long Sleeve Dresses
Starting at the top… The darling and affordable H&M sheath dress, followed by the very unaffordable Balmain black blazer dress, Daniela Gregis shift dress, 10 Crosby Derek Lam printed plaid dress, Preen black and white dress, Balenciaga long sleeve shift dress, Moschino Cheap and Chic patchwork dress, Tory Burch Kathy dress, Diane von Furstenberg printed dress, Michael Kors tweed herringbone dress.
I should note – DVF and Michael Kors have a lot of great options that are not outrageously priced (ahem Balmain). Which is your favorite??

Trend Obsession: Oxblood

This started out as a trend report, and quickly changed into an obsession. I’m not in love with the name, but the color is AH-mazing! I painted my nails last night in an oxblood hue, and now I will commence to paint my entire life in this gorgeous color for Fall. See below for some serious style inspiration!

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Tweed Jacket

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Tweed Jacket
(Click image to see all products on Polyvore)
I am craving tweed jackets for Fall, so here are three different ways to style this Faith Connexion piece for the office, a date, and for casual-wear. Instead of a solid blouse underneath, opt for a pretty floral print at the office to keep the outfit fresh and light. Pointed-toe flats and some sparkle at the wrist pull the look together. For evening, what is better than a LBD? Complete the look with a statement necklace and interesting shoes in the same hue. To dress down the tweed jacket, choose flattering boot-cut jeans, a cool and comfortable Tee (I am obsessed with this one from Etsy), and beautiful, leather booties. How will you wear tweed this Fall?
