Wore this ‘would be preppy if I didn’t add a leather moto-jacket’ ensemble to brunch this weekend with the manfriend, who reluctantlyhappily snapped these pics. The storm was starting to brew up, so jeans and loafers were a must. I love the pop of snake-print under the sweater and the somewhat unexpected pairing of the leather jacket. Oh, and how adorable is my new bag?? I’m currently stuck without power, so probably won’t be posting much…Good luck to all who were affected by the storm!
Quick weekend recap: On Saturday, the manfriend and I went to a candy bar to stock up (“adult-Halloween”) then hit the movie theater to see Argo. I wore these new “kicks” a lot this weekend. I’m not usually a sneaker girl (like, at all), but this pair seemed perfect to throw on with anything from jeans to a flirty skirt to walk the streets of New York. On Sunday, we grabbed brunch at a cute spot called The Half Pint in Greenwich Village, then browsed a cool record store nearby, before I started prepping to hole up for the storm. Hope you all had a nice weekend!
It is no secret that I love a maxi dress/skirt/anything… It is an insanely comfortable, yet feminine look that can easily transition from season to season. In the Fall, I layer up my maxis with sweaters, scarfs, jackets, fur, tights, etc. and add boots or booties. I wore this dress for a night out recently with a leather jacket, a statement necklace and heeled booties. For day, however, I opted for a more casual denim jacket and scarf combination. What do you think?
So, I’m another year older, and the past year has been a big one. Since my last birthday, I…
Went on my first trip to St. Thomas, where it rained all week Graduated college, leaving behind a place and many people that I love
Finally grew up and bought an iPhone
Cut my bangs, let them grow out, cut my bangs again
Needed eyeglasses for the first time, and splurged on a Tiffany’s pair (er, Thanks Mom & Dad)
Moved to New York City, from a teeny-tiny town in MA – also leaving behind a place and people I love
Began a new job with a great company
Oh, and I started a blog!!
Am I where I thought I would be or want to be…? Honestly, not yet. But luckily, I have at least a few more birthdays ahead of me. I’ve been making a list of all the things I want to accomplish in the next year, and let’s just say, I better get started!
It has been unseasonably warm recently, but I’m reluctant to stay in Summer garb. A thin sweater and fair-isle print shorts seemed like the perfect combination for a sunny October weekend. Oh yeah, and my bangs are back in play… Missed those bad boys. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I love the unexpected combination of fabrics, like silk and knit,or denim and lace, or tweed and leather. However, because tweed and leather are very luxurious fabrics, the price tends to go up, like with this classic Milly shift dress. But for those of you who don’t have a spare $375 (ahem, me), you can get a similar look for less with this version by Kirna Zabete for Target. Wear your tweed/leather number with black tights and ankle booties for cocktails, or layer the dress with a white blouse for the office. What do you think? Are you looking to splurge or steal a tweed and leather dress this season?
It would be remiss if I let October go by without posting about ta-tas. As an advocate of pink on the reg, (see blog title…), I can’t help but love all the pink support that comes out during Breast Cancer Awareness month. What can be better than shopping AND helping other people?? Here are some of my favorite products you can purchase this month that will support the fight again breast cancer:
Clockwise from Top Left: Donna Karan Cashmere Eau de Parfum, Keep Calm and Fight On, Essie BCA Collection Polish, COACH leather bag, Movado Special Edition BCA watch, Giuliana Rancic for LOFT necklace, ECHO scarf, and Dannijo BCA bracelet
If you have any favorite pink products or stories, please share them in the comments!
In case you haven’t heard, collared blouses are IN, and this topper from Equipment is simply lovely. Equipment blouses are no cheapie purchase (well, at least for a recent-grad with student loans and no money like me), so you’d want to get a lot of use out of it. Problem solved. I give you three totally different ways to wear this beautiful, bedazzled blouse. Take the first look on a date or to cocktails – add a jersey mini-skirt in THE color of the season and sexy leopard heels. Add a little extra bling with jewelry, but carry a simple envelope clutch to pull the whole look together. The second look can go just about anywhere. Slim, dark-wash jeans complement the silk blouse, while sturdy ankle booties and a parka are surprising and cool elements. Add a spotted circle bag because, well… I am obsessed with this bag. The third look can be worn to the office. Minimalism nevergoes out of style, so pair the blouse with a neutral pant and a classic black sweater. Black patent loafers, a carryall bag, and eyeglasses make this look practical and chic. The pocket-watch pendant adds whimsy to this polished look. What do you think? How would you wear this sparkly collared top?
Sundays in the Fall are for being cozy and watching football, so I put my dirty hair up and threw on wide-leg jeans and a classic black sweater. Camel ankle booties and my favorite silk scarf polished the look off. There’s nothing better than jeans and sweater weather! What do you think? What is your go-to Fall look?
