Thinking About a Change

I get bored sometimes. Not in the way a child does when they have nothing to do, or the way a cubicle worker does when he stares blankly at his computer. Rather, I get bored with my look… Some people pick a signature look and stick with it. (Hello Michael Kors). But for some reason, I can’t seem to do that. This is why I am constantly adding to my closet, changing my hair cut and color, and getting tattoos or piercings… But aside from boredom, I want a haircut because this full head of hair is driving me crazy in the summer heat! If only my bangs could magically disappear… Anyway, here are some styles I am considering/wish I could rock/want your opinion on:

I desperately wish I could pull off a super short hairstyle…

Or should I just suffer through the heat and humidity and keep the look I have? I could always change the color again if my boredom hits a peak… Thoughts in the comments, please!

Weekend Recap and New Things

I spent much of my weekend recovering from a sprained ankle… This is what I get for ignoring my washed-up athlete status and challenging the manfriend to a friendly game of basketball. The rest of the weekend was spent shopping in Soho… It was slow and painful, but I will fight through almost anything if the opportunity for new purchases is involved…

Here is what I took home:

TEXTILE Elizabeth and James jeans (also love this slouchy pair)
Boutique 9 Sandals
Zara high-low skirt (similar) and Joe’s Jeans chambray shirt (similar)

Of course none of these items were on my list, so I will need to hit the stores again soon… muahaha 🙂

Inspired by: Charlize Theron

Charlize Inspiration
Trendy and Tailored. Taking on the jumpsuit trend is not easy. The most flattering shape is one that cinches at the waist, creating that covetable hour-glass figure. Another thing to look for is a straight or slightly tapered leg line, because this is a more modern cut. I chose a jumpsuit in black, because it is a bit easier to pull off and more versatile than the orange jumpsuit Charlize is wearing. I recommend keeping the accessories light and simple, as she has done.
Simple and Streamlined. The Stella McCartney ensemble Charlize is wearing above is also hard to duplicate. Look for a faux wrap tulip skirt, like the one shown.  The draping of this skirt is a figure flattering style for those of us who are not 5’10”. Pick a top in a similar or matching hue, and add interest with strong accessories like a black wedge bootie and a silver collar necklace. In both looks, Charlize is sporting jet black nails, which keeps her style perfectly polished.
Which look do you like best?

Celebrity Crush: Charlize Theron

While perusing my June issue of InStyle magazine yesterday, I commented to my manfriend that I have a girl crush on Charlize Theron. Without hesitation, he came back with “who doesn’t?” Well great, because I will certainly never look like her… Oh well. We can all still dream. Anyway, here are some of my favorite Charlize fashion moments.

Wearing Dior Haute Couture. Everything about this is perfection.

Black leather (by The Row) and a red lip. Yes, please.

Street style: just rocking a jumpsuit like it is no big thang.

Brilliant in this beautiful cobalt blue Stella McCartney number.

Love the neutral palette she wore at FNO

Flawless in Gucci

Had to pick this Christian Dior number to wrap things up…

Stay tuned for a follow up on how you can get her amazing style!

Sunday in the Park

Wearing – Dress: no label (similar skirt – just add a black tank!), Bag: DVF, Shades: Ray Ban, Jewelry: gifted, vintage, Off 5th

I made the big move to NYC last week, and I had a great weekend exploring our neighborhoods with the manfriend. Yesterday, we grabbed coffee and unbeatable New York bagels, and we hit a park near my apartment to enjoy the beautiful weather. Now back to reality… Happy Monday!

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold Brogues

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold oxford flats

I’ve been lusting over metallic brogues recently. The dressed up flat is a great option for those who prefer to leave the heels at home. There are about a million ways to wear these metallic gold oxfords, but here are three of my favorites! The first look would make for a cute and casual date night outfit. Silk floral shorts are the modern version of a skirt. Pair them with a blouse and a leather jacket and you are ready for dinner and a movie! For the second look, the gold brogues are a fun accent piece to a basic jeans and sweater ensemble. Wear this on a shopping trip or for lunch with friends. The last look combines a modern shirtdress with the trendy flats. Add a cool, studded belt for shape, and you are ready to hit happy hour. What do you say? Are gold brogues for you?

Weekend Highlights

The highlights of my weekend: beach chairs set up around the pool, delicious scallops from Browns, puppy swimming!, cocktails, puppy sunbathing, me sunbathing, Browns on repeat, bright floral shorts by Tommy Hilfiger.

I spent the weekend at home with my family, my dog Skylar, and my friends, enjoying the beautiful weather. Hope you all also had a nice and relaxing weekend!

Stand-By Summer Style

Wearing – Dress: Nine West (old, but love this Calvin Klein version), Sandals: similar, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (love this version too), Necklace and Earrings: Stephen & Co., Bracelets: gift

It’s raining again… big surprise. But in spite of the weather, I am wearing whatever I want. This is my go-to warm weather dress, and I’ve probably worn it three times already this season. Shocking, I know. (For those who don’t know, that is an unheard of statistic for me)… Anyway, my fingers are crossed for nice weather this weekend!

New Shoes, Two Ways

Wearing – Sweater: J. Crew (old), Boyfriend shorts: H&M (old), Shoes: Steve Madden (similar), Jeans: J. Crew, Striped Sweater: J. Crew (similar), Glasses: Tiffany & Co.

I managed to get outside to take photographs… or so I thought. I only took about three shots before it started to rain again. Anyway, I’ve been obsessed with these new loafers, courtesy of Steve Madden (similar), so here are a couple of ways that I have worn them recently. They are not drastically different looks: I varied the basic formula of jeans, stripes, and a comfy sweater. What better way to dress on rainy days?
