Splurge vs. Steal: Tortoise Watch

splurge vs. steal: tortoise watch
Michael Kors makes the best watches. I have one in silver and one in rosegold, but I’ve had my eye on this tortoise shell watch on the left for a while now. This gorgeous Michael Kors watch is $225. Unfortunately, since the real world just creeped up on me, this watch isn’t in the budget right now, so I went searching for a similar, less pricey option. You are welcome, readers… On the right you have an Anne Klein version, which is just $65! I will never stop lusting over Michael Kors watches, but a cheaper option is always welcome.

The Very Unfortunate Real World

Goodbye college, hello real world. Most graduates are looking forward to the day when they take another step on the path of life. They look to it with hope and a sense of adventure. I, on the other hand, left kicking and screaming yesterday afternoon from the University I have called home for the past four years. Anyway, I will be back on track soon but in the meantime here are some highlights from the past week that I spent hurrahing with my friends and family!

This face says it all…

Wearing – Ugliest cap/gown combo ever, Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren (similar)

Pre-Graduation celebration with friends and family…

Me with the fabulous Callie of Cal Says So blog. Wearing – Dress: F21, Necklace: Nordstrom Rack (love this one too)

At Senior Formal…

Wearing – Dress: Rachel Roy (old), Studded Belt: F21, Earrings: gifted

After graduation with the squinty manfriend… Clearly, I immediately removed the cap and gown

Wearing – Dress: BB Dakota, Shoes: COACH, Belt: Via Spiga via Nordstrom

Officially Done and Off to the Shore!

I took my last college final this morning! This is what I wore… Excuse the hair, I had a long day of sunbathing, er studying yesterday. Also, the manfriend took these shots while I was packing up some of my apartment. Some (or all) of them are very unprofessional… 🙂

Wearing – Tank: Michael Kors, Sweater: UO, Boyfriend shorts: Gap, Shoes: Steve Madden, Watch: Tommy Hilfiger, Jewelry: vintage, Alison Moses ring, Stephen & Co. skull earrings

The manfriend: “Hehehe butt shot”… Followed shortly by my grow-up look’: (signature look, don’t even try to copy)

What can I say, we have our fun. Anyway, now that I am officially done with finals, my friends and I are headed to the beach for the weekend! Hopefully I will get lots of photos to share. Have a great weekend!

Rainy Day

Wearing – Shorts: F21 (love this pair too), Shirt: J.Crew (similar), Socks: J.Crew (like this pair too), Boots: Michael Kors, Glasses: Tiffany & Co.

When I was a little girl, I used to put my bathing suit on and play outside in the rain with my big brother. (I wonder if I have any pictures of that scene…) Now, however, I avoid the rain like I’m the Wicked Witch of the West. What I mean to say is, this is one of the few times you will see me venturing in to the rain. Remember what I told you about humidity and my hair… yeah, just imagine it wet. Those were dark days before the invention of the flat iron…

1 piece 3 ways: Splendid Polka Dot Blouse

1 piece 3 ways: Polka Dot Blouse
I have a thing for polka dots… Maybe it stems back to my days of wearing Minnie Mouse ears complete with a red and white polka dot bow… Either way, this navy polka dot blouse by Splendid is adorable and (to use an adult word) versatile! Here are three of my favorite ways to wear this blouse, ranging from chic daywear to young and casual to work appropriate.

Met Gala Round Up

As usual, the beautiful people brought it at the Met Gala last week. Here are some of my favorite looks of the night:

My number one spot definitely goes to Emma Stone, who looked stunning in this Lanvin number. The color is nothing short of beautiful against her skin tone and hair color.

The other looks that I completely love include…

Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren

Gisele Bundchen in Givenchy

Jessica Biel in Prada

Victoria Justice in McQ by Alexander McQueen

Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada

Splurge vs. Steal

These claw bracelets have slightly different gold tones, but the major difference between them is a price of about $900! Pause for a moment to take that in, because my mind is still reeling… The unbelievably gorgeous piece on the left, which is a cuff I have been lusting over for years now since I first saw it in her showroom, is a Pamela Love creation which carries the price tag of a mere $920.00! On the right is a version made by ASOS, which retails for just over $20.00. Seems like an obvious choice, no?

P.S. I’d like to wish the most amazing Mom in the world a wonderful Mother’s Day! I miss you and love you very much. XO

Mixing it Up

I have been playing with mixing colors and patterns recently. Here are some of my favorite combinations!

Stripes and Leopard

Coral and Cobalt

Stripes and Floral

Pink Lace and Leopard

What are your favorite pattern and color combinations for Spring? Tell me in the comments! <3Hillary

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Denim Vest

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Denim Vest
Coincidentally, after starting this post three of my guy friends wore denim vests as a joke. Let’s just say, it wasn’t pretty. So, I am giving you three fun and funky ways to rock the denim vest, but… just don’t lend it to the boys. For the first look, I took a classic, white lace dress and added trendy pieces, like the vest, a neon belt, and chevron print platform sandals. The next look is more casual. I mixed dark denim jeans with the lighter denim vest, then added a cool, skull tank and white brogues. Add some color with a bold, orange bag like this gorgeous one from Rebecca Minkoff. For the last look, I layered the vest with a star-print maxi and a pink slouchy tank. Wear chic ankle booties to complete the look. Will you be layering with a denim vest this Spring/Summer? Which style is your favorite? You can purchase the denim vest featured above at Madewell for $88!
